Commentaire :
Far removed from the traditional image of Alsatian women in headdresses adorned with large black bows popularised by Hansi, the most commonly worn headdresses in Alsace in the 18th and 19th centuries were the “coiffe à bec” (headdress with pointed “beak” shapes) and “bonnet à couture médiane” (bonnet with a central seam). Their decoration varied according to occasion, place and social status.
