Commentaire :
Amongst the renowned artists represented in the Person collection was the painter Suzanne Valadon. By working as a model for the greatest artists of the early 20th century, from Puvis de Chavannes to Auguste Renoir, she was able to provide for herself and her son, the future painter Maurice Utrillo. By the end of the First World War she was a reputed self-taught artist, who stood out for her frank and uncompromising vision of the female nude.
